TheBetGuy’s NFL Week 14 Outlook

Week 14 features some big NFL division rivalries. The Sunday morning and afternoon games both have some matchups that should make for some of the best games on the week.

Ravens at Steelers

The first morning game on Sunday is projected to be one of the lowest-scoring matchups of the entire week. The total points is projected to be just 36.5 points in this game as the Ravens are slight underdogs by two points to the Steelers in Pittsburgh. A big question in this game is whether Lamar Jackson is going to play or not. Tyler Huntley did well in his place but the Ravens would surely be the favorites if he was confirmed to be playing.

Browns at Bengals

Deshaun Watson will play in his second game of the year against one of the hottest teams in the league. The Bengals are the favorites in this one by 5.5 points after just beating the Chiefs. There is a fairly high projected total in this game at 46.5, so it is assumed that the Browns can figure out their offense this week after not scoring an offensive touchdown against one of the worst defensive teams in the NFL last week, Houston.

Texans at Cowboys

This is the most lopsided matchup on the week and the lines reflect that. The Cowboys are one of the biggest favorites we have seen all year at 17.5 points and the total in this game is at just 44 points. That means that the Cowboys have the highest implied points total and the Texans have the lowest on the week. It should be an easy win for the Cowboys but 17.5 is a lot to cover for any NFL team.

Jaguars at Titans

The Jaguars are 3.5 point underdogs to the Titans after they just got blown out by the Lions. Tennessee has now lost two games in a row to two good teams after starting the season 7-3. They will look to get back on track against their division opponent Jacksonville in a game with a low projected total of just 41.

Vikings at Lions

People have been calling Detroit the Coors Field of the NFL meaning that high scoring games are expected there. This game has the highest projected points total on the Sunday day game slate at 52. Another interesting aspect of this game is that the 5-7 Lions are actually two-point favorites over the 10-2 Vikings. It has been a while since we have seen a team with five more wins than their opponent being the underdog.

Jets at Bills

Another large spread comes from this game as the Bills are 10-point favorites over the Jets. The Jets actually beat the Bills earlier in the season 20-17, but this one is projected to be a different story. One of the best stories in the NFL this year so far has been the Jets and how this defense has led them to a 7-5 record, which no one expected. Their offense has been much improved as well with Mike White at quarterback in a 43 point projected total.

Eagles at Giants

The Eagles still hold the league’s best record with just one loss and are seven-point favorites over their division rival the Giants. This game also has somewhat of a low projected point total at 44. It is expected that the Eagles defense shows up like they usually do as the implied point total for the Giants is one of the lowest on the week. The Eagles have scored 75 points combined in the last two weeks compared to the Giants who have scored 40.

Chiefs at Broncos

The first of the afternoon games features the Chiefs as large favorites over their division rivals the Broncos by 9.5 points. It is one of the largest spreads of the week. Denver is the lowest scoring team in the NFL and the Chiefs score the most per game. One thing that they do well though is stop their opponents as Denver allows just 17 points per game, the second lowest.

Panthers at Seahawks

The Panthers have been a mess this year and it is unclear who will start at quarterback this week for them. That is why they are four-point underdogs against Seattle in this one. It is a 44-point total so it is expected that Carolina somehow is going to come away with some points with this depleted offense. Seattle has won their last three games at home.

Dolphins at Chargers

This game has the potential to be one of the most entertaining as two of the top quarterbacks drafted in the 2020 NFL Draft will go head-to-thead in Tua Tagovailoa and Justin Herbert. It is expected to be high scoring with these two at a projected total of 52.5 points. The Dolphins are slight favorites on the road in this game by three points. It should be a close and high-scoring game.
