Bovada Sportsbook Review
1. Score (rating) Overall: 3.6/5 Stars
The overall score given to Bovada is based on these major categories:
Platform: 4.5 Stars
Pricing and Betting Options: 3.5 Stars
User Experience: 4 Stars
Deposits and Withdrawals: 2 Stars
2. Company Profile
Bovada was created as the United States version of Bodog that was made in 2000. In 2011 the site went live for bettors in the United States using the name Bovada instead of Bodog. Countries outside of the United States still use the betting platform Bodog, however. Bovada is primarily a sports betting platform, although they do also offer an online casino as well. This review will strictly cover their sports betting services. The first thing to know about Bovada is that it is actually a non-licensed sports betting platform in the United States. Bettors should be wary of this as it has commonly been tied to poor customer service and delayed or non-existent payouts. For bettors looking for something more regulated and safe, there are better services out there than Bovada if sports betting is legal in your state.
Bovada though will offer bettors a ton of sports betting options, bonuses, and features that rival the other top options and brands. It is one of the most popular offshore betting platforms for people in the United States.
For sports bettors looking to make a bet on the biggest and also most obscure sporting events, Bovada should have you covered. There will always be something to bet on with their platform. They currently have 29 different sports where bets can be placed that are in-season. Within those 29 sports, all of the major leagues across the world will be available to bet on as well. Each sporting event will have dozens of various bets that can be placed for those looking to make prop bets, or bet on specific quarters, totals, or outcomes.
The platform in general is very basic and plain, which is not a bad thing. It makes it extremely easy to find the sport, league, or game you are looking to place a bet on. Placing a bet is just as straight forward. The betting odds are competitive compared to other sites but they are constantly changing and can be based on how much you are winning as a bettor. Big time bettors may find that the odds are not as good for them. Their odds will come out after other top sites as they seem to gauge their odds based on the other top sportsbooks. Bovada definitely looks to capitalize on the avid sports bettors market and getting new customers who want to come in and bet immediately.
Below is a list of the sports betting markets available at Bovada including live bets that can be placed for each respective sport:

What is MatchPay?
MatchPay is the #1 peer-to-peer trading platform that allows players to buy and sell credit with other MatchPay users. MatchPay users transfer funds using PayPal, Venmo, Zelle, Apple Pay, Chime and CashApp; the more of these payment methods you have, the greater the chance of matching you with users ready to trade.
Whether depositing or withdrawing on Bovada, you’ll first need to create a MatchPay account. Provide and authenticate your email and phone number, then create a MatchPay ID and password. Your MatchPay account will be linked solely to your Bovada account and cannot be used for outside trades.
When buying a deposit, you’ll be directed to your MatchPay account to create an Order to be matched with users looking to sell you that amount.
Ex. A Bovada deposit request becomes a MatchPay Order; the credit you purchase through MatchPay is converted to USD to play at Bovada.
When selling a withdrawal, the amount is removed from your Bovada account balance and, once approved, is held in reserve ready for you to create an Offer in that amount (or a portion of) on MatchPay.
Ex. A Bovada withdrawal becomes a Matchpay Offer; you are selling your credit for money.
All trades are private, fast and secure, and made using the above mentioned payment methods only. Your MatchPay credit balance cannot be sent directly to your personal bank account.
Your MatchPay Credit Balance reflects beneath the withdrawable balance listed on your Bovada account. Just click the profile icon at the top of any page.
4. Bonuses and Promotions
As far as bonuses and promotions go Bovada offers a good amount compared to the other top online sportsbook platforms. The sign up promotions are usually in the form of large deposit bonuses where new users can get their deposit matched or even more than doubled in the form of free bets. Like with all online sportsbooks, make sure to carefully read the conditions of the bonus money that is offered as the rollover to actually cashout on your bonus could be extremely high. Bovada also offers occasional deposit bonuses for their current users, not just their new users.
A bonus that not all online sportsbooks offer is their loyalty program. Every bet will net bettors some bonus points that can be exchanged for free betting money. As far as boosted odds on bets, Bovada will not offer many to their current users.
Aside from not having many boosted betting odds, if any at all, Bovada has some good features for bettors. They do offer live in game betting on almost every sport and league as well as some large parlay bets that can be placed.
Bovada doesn’t currently offer any live streaming of games like some of the other big sports betting platforms do.
Bovada does really well at making it simple and easy for a sports bettor of any level to get into the action and stay connected with live bets and tons of options for bettors
6. Pros and Cons
Simple and easy to use
Tons of sports betting options
Not regulated in the US
Rollovers on bonuses
7. Final Thoughts
Bovada isn’t regulated in the United States. That being said, it is perfectly fine to deposit and bet with Bovada. Personally, it has been my go to sportsbook for years, reaching Hall Of Fame status on their loyalty program. Ive never had an issue with cashing out, but there are some reviews online indicating that there has been. Signing up with a huge bonus and getting into the action is made easy with Bovada. Make sure to explore all of your options and read the terms and conditions when depositing with a bonus to ensure that you will get paid out your winnings when trying to withdraw on Bovada.
